Trinidad anticipates arrival of over 5500 cruise passengers within two days

While announcing the development through its Facebook account, Tourism Trinidad said that the island is preparing for a busy few days as the cruise season moves forward.

Trinidad is expecting a whopping 5696 individuals to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday. These cruise passengers will come to the island nation onboard Jewel of the Seas, Seven Seas Splendor and Emerald Princess. While announcing the development through its Facebook account, Tourism Trinidad said that the island is preparing for a busy few days as the cruise season moves forward.

The authority also announced that around 40% of the arriving passengers will go on organised tours while 149 maxis are being utilised for the tours. People are expected to explore the main attractions in Trinidad including Maracas Beach, Caroni Bird Sanctuary and a City Tour.

According to the Tourism Trinidad Authority, the average spend for the 2023-2024 Cruise Season is presently estimated at US$28 per person. It is to be noted that the Jewel of the Seas is arriving to the island every Tuesday throughout the season and is bringing over 2200 passengers. The authorities give a warm welcome to the passengers with local performers including Moko Jumbies entertaining them with unique performances.

The 2023-2024 Cruise Tourism Season in Trinidad is giving a major boost to the local economy with the vendors, taxi drivers and goods and service providers getting a huge business with the continuous arrival of travellers from across the world.

As of December, the island witnessed an increase of 81% in cruise arrivals as compared to the same period in last season. The CEO of the Tourism Trinidad Ltd, Carla Cupid said that the numbers are very encouraging, and the team looks forward to engaging more international cruise liners.

She also highlighted that during the last season 2022-2023, around 48,243 passengers arrived through 29 cruise ship calls but this year it is being expected that the visitors are on pace to surpass the 2019/2022 visitors numbers as 88000 individuals are expected to arrive through the ongoing season.

With this increase in number of cruise arrivals, CEO Cupid said that it is good to know that the island is being recognised by international cruisers and is gradually becoming a major cruise destination.
