Trinidad and Tobago: A massive house fire broke out in San Juan, Trinidad, on May 9, following which the fire services were notified, but when the fire officers arrived at the scene, the truck had no water.
The negligence of the officials led to 11 people becoming homeless and the death of five dogs.
According to the information, the fire broke out on the top floor of a two storey-structure, completely gutting the building. One victim lost everything in the tragic fire including four of his dogs. The sources revealed that around 11:30 am, the fire broke out and quickly spread and engulfed the entire structure in just a matter of few minutes.
The police officials, fire services, and medical personnel were immediately notified, but when the fire officers arrived at the scene, the truck had no water.
After some time, three other fire trucks arrived at the scene and managed to put out the massive blaze, following which the officer found four dead puppies while searching through the rubble.
After two hours, the house was completely gutted by fire, and four puppies were dead. All four families lost their belongings, while two residents were medically treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A resident who was upset with the fire department said that they did not even have enough water and the personnel changed shifts while the building was burning and even the fourth truck was not able to put out the fire.
A witness on the site also said that it is good that no one got seriously injured but it is sad that the families lost all the belongings which they earned after working hard for their entire life. He also said that if the fire officers had not been negligent then maybe the puppies and some of the belongings could have been saved.
The police officers said that the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but investigations are ongoing.
