Tobago marks influx of 27.2% visitors in January 2024
Trinidad and Tobago: The nation marked a significant increase of 27.2 % in the number of visitors to the shores of Tobago in January 2024.

Trinidad and Tobago: The island of Tobago marked a significant increase of 27.2 % in the number of visitors in January 2024. It is to be noted that the figures represent the highest number of arrivals for any January period ranging from 2017 to 2023.
The number of visitors recorded in January 2023 were approximately 21,297. Meanwhile, the island nation welcomed over 27000 international visitors in January 2024. With the increase in the arrivals of tourists, the nation is likely to witness a spike in the economic conditions of the country. As per Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities & Transportation of Tobago “International visitors arrivals to the shores of Tobago for January 2023 increased by an estimated 27.2% from its corresponding January 2023 figure of approximately 21,297.This figure represents the highest number of arrivals for any January period spanning from 2017-2023. January saw the second-highest recorded number of visitors for the corresponding period.”
Tourism is considered as the back-bone of any nation, therefore, surge in the number of tourists will not only improve the tourism sector but will also create many job opportunities for the locals as well as the citizens of the island nation.It will contribute towards the growth and development of the nation which will bring numerous economic benefits.
Moreover, the recently conducted Carnival also played a pivotal role in enhancing the number of visitors to the nation. Tobago hosted various activities exhibiting the vibrant culture and traditions of the country.The carnival which is known for its vivacious music, dance, several local cuisines, colourful costumes witnessed many visitors. It offered all its visitors with an unforgettable experience filled with various fun activities and special memories.
Along with the Carnival, Tobago welcomed many cruise vessels to its shores in the month of January. The cruises including Costa Fortuna, Jewel of the Seas, Seabourn Ovation, Marella Voyager, Star Pride, Celebrity Silhouette graced the coast of the island nation with their presence.
The arrival of cruise ships also brought an influx of visitors to the nation, resulted in creating increase in demands in various sectors including, hotels, resorts, restaurants, beaches, transportation and many more.
Various residents of the community also took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the news.
One person with a Facebook handle Donna Ghany commented “Wonderful! Please give a breakdown of where these visitors came from.”
Another person wrote “Tobago seems to be a perfect destination to spend some time with your loved ones. Looking forward for an exciting vacation over there.”
