The number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Guyana now stands at 78 after officials confirmed three new infections.
Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence announced the new cases during her COVID-19 update. She did not reveal any information about the infected persons.
The capital Georgetown is the hotspot of COVID-19 and Lawrence published the central region has the most cases.
“The coronavirus is in several of the densely populated areas in our cities. We need to stop and take stock of this situation,” Lawrence also told that Guyana suffered during the 1918 Spanish flu outbreak.
“You must adhere to the guidelines provided or we will be in a severe condition that we cannot control.” On the lighter side, the number of people recovered from the virus increased to 18. The country has tested 519 people for the virus.
