Teacher, fire officer among 6 held for breaching COVID-19 rules

Six people, including a fire officer, a primary school teacher, and a business manager, were held on Friday night in Manzanilla for breaching the Public Health Ordinance.
The six were held during a police operation supervised by Snr Sup Aguilal.
According to police reports, officers of the Eastern Division were conducting routine patrols throughout the district during an operation which lasted between 4 pm and 9 pm, when they observed a group of men liming near a bar along the Manzanilla Road.
The officers approached the group and cautioned them for being in breach of the Public Health Ordinance.
However, the men, who were between the ages of 30 and 61, reportedly refused to disperse.
As a result, they were all detained and charged.
The operation was led by Insp Richardson and Sgt Ramlakhan and also included PCs Flores, Verasammy and WPC King, among others.
