Taxpayers filing Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Assets Tax Returns are now required to do so online via the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) www.jamaicatax.gov.jm portal.
The measure, which came into effect on January 1, 2019, also mandates employers to submit their employers’ monthly statutory remittance payroll deductions (S01) electronically in this fifth phase of the mandatory e-filing stipulation.
“Employers are, therefore, now required to submit their declarations electronically using the tax authority’s online tax portal by January 14 when the latest S01 returns become due,” the TAJ said in a statement on Thursday (January 3).
The TAJ indicated that it has been providing these categories of taxpayers with support to meet the new requirement, through training sessions for persons targeted in this phase.
The agency advised that taxpayers have the option of making arrangements for #eOne-on-One sessions to train their staff or requesting advisory visits to their businesses to be assisted with the e-file returns procedure.
Meanwhile, the TAJ is reminding taxpayers to contact the agency’s Client Relations Manager, Taxpayer Education Manager or Customer Care Centre to register for e-filing or arrange to get assistance.
They are also encouraged to access the ‘How To’ guide at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
Amendments to the Revenue Administration Act empowers the TAJ Commissioner General to instruct persons to submit returns, as deemed necessary, in any state or manner, as directed.
