Trinidad and Tobago: Police officials are investigating the death of a two-month-old baby girl, Amy Rihanna Doodhnath, who was brought to the Siparia Health Facility in an unresponsive condition on Tuesday. The reports stated that the baby had severe injuries on her head. According to the preliminary reports, around 5 pm, Amy’s 25-year-old mother reportedly went to check on her when she discovered the infant bleeding from a cut to the top of her head. At the time of the incident, she was found at her Bunsee Trace, Penal Rock Road home in Trinidad. The mother immediately contacted the child’s grandmother, who is also a patient care assistant and informed her of the situation. While waiting for the grandmother, who was at work, the mother and 24-year-old father placed a plaster on the child’s head.

Around 7:20 pm, when the grandmother arrived at home, they took the infant to the health facility, where she succumbed to her injured around 8:20pm.

Reportedly, the baby had a 2cm laceration to the top of the head, a 6cm x 6cm hematoma bump on the back left side of the head and a 5cm x 5cm hematoma bump to the right back side of the head as well as bruises around the eyes filled with blood under the skin.

The grandmother of the child also said that she was told that there was excessive bleeding to the back of the eyes, causing them to be swollen.

It was reported that the infant also had raccoon eyes, which means that her eyes had bruises around the eyes where blood pools under the skin.

In addition to this, Brandon Doodnath, 32, and wife, Roshanie Ramtahal, 25, spoke with the media on Wednesday concerning the death of their daughter. The couple was seen crying and was concerned over the suspicious death of their child.

The police officials also stated that an autopsy was subsequently ordered to determine the actual cause of death. The officers of the Southwestern Division and Homicide South visited the scene along with the officers of the Child Protection Unit, who are also involved in the investigation.

The citizens and residents have expressed their deep concern over the incident with several of them taking to Facebook and calling the incident as ‘shocking’.

“I am really angry why the parents wait almost three hours to take her to the hospital because the grandmother is a PCA,” wrote a user named Angie, while another user claimed that it is the parent’s mistake and said, “This story makes no sense at all…. Parents are fully responsible for the death of this little princess. God bless the wrong people with children. R. I . P my little angel.”
