Strengthening Protected Agriculture to improve people’s livelihoods, food and nutrition security project introduced in St. Kitts and Nevis.

St. Kitts and Nevis: Strengthening Protected Agriculture to improve people’s livelihoods, food and nutrition security project introduced in St. Kitts and Nevis. This project has been introduced by the Ministry of agriculture in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
This significant project aims at making positive changes to the lives of the people of the country. The strengthened and protected agriculture would surely improve people’s livelihoods, food and nutrition security.
The opening ceremony of the project took place on Monday in the form of an informative 5-day workshop this week in the large conference room of the Department of Agriculture, LaGuerite in St. Kitts.
At the workshop, Melvin Medina Navarro who is the lead technical officer at Plant Production and Protection for Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) acted as the main facilitator.
He is driving the progress of the workshop that focuses on the ways to improve access to the food supplies through an increased access to agricultural inputs and resilient practices. This as well will increase the household income from new and restored livelihoods through developing strategies to improve the food systems.
Also, it is focused on reducing the food losses and waste which projects the food security in the country, St. Kitts and Nevis. Several of the initiatives having the major objective of food security are being introduced in the small island nation having the major focus at fostering better times for the people of the nation, St. Kitts and Nevis.
Considerably, the Food and Agriculture Organization is the agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to bring positive change to the people. This is set to ensure food security by developing ways of growing food that will put forth the benefits in the coming times to millions of people.
