Venezuela Delegation meets PM Philip Pierre

St Lucia: A Government delegation from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre.

The delegation, which comprised of Raúl Licausi - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to CARICOM, the OECS and the OAS and Leiff Escalona - Private Assistant and Former Ambassador to Saint Lucia, met with the Prime Minister on Friday 6th August and conveyed congratulatory messages on behalf of the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.

In thanking the delegation, Prime Minister Pierre affirmed that his administration would work towards reinstating and strengthening the traditional and friendly relationship between Saint Lucia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The Prime Minister further confirmed that his Government’s position on Venezuela would be consistent with the official position of CARICOM of non-interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state.

Following the landslide victory in the General Elections of St Lucia, the St Lucia Labour Party (SLP) is working tirelessly to improve people's administration. Apart from this, Dr Ernest Hilaire - Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information described the areas as being really important for the party in transformation of St Lucia. According to local media, Dr Hilaire said that people centric development and approach of putting people first will see a certain direction in keeping the promise and tourism sector will see a new look. He said that the new government wants to promote people and community participation, ensuing that tourism is more than just figures, it is also for the earnings for the citizens and residents of St Lucia.
