St Lucia: PM Pierre extends condolences on murder of CID officer 'Timaitre'

While expressing his condolences, PM Pierre stated, "I am paying my sincerest condolences to the family of Officer Nathan Timaitre. His service to the country was valued and appreciated."
"To the members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, please accept my sympathy. The necessary grief support will be provided to you as you mourn the loss of your colleague and friend," expressed prime minister.
He further cited that the government is making efforts to combat the crime rate in St Lucia, and to the law-abiding citizens, the government ask for your support as we deal with this scourge of crime.
Condemning the criminals, PM Pierre stressed that this behaviour would not be tolerated in St Lucia. I reaffirm my commitment to providing law enforcement officials with resources that will assist in citizen security. I again call on the High Command of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force to use every available measure in our quest for peace, underscored PM of St Lucia.
He also emphasized, "There are no winners in this; our country is at a cross-road, and we need to choose the path of peace and prosperity to all. I pledge my unflinching support to the observance of the law and justice for all. May God continue to be our guide".
On Saturday, March 5, 2022, unidentified shooters shot Police officer Nathan and another officer at Bocage, Castries.
As per the reports, the deceased Officer named Nathan Timaitre was the Officer of the CID of St Lucia. The reports further stated that Timitre and other officers were doing a cash escort in civilian clothing when shooters ambushed them. Timaiter was died on the spot, while another police officer identified as King had been rushed to hospital in critical conditions.Officer Timaitre was part of the Police Guard and also inspected during the Independence Military Tattoo.
