St Lucia: An analysis of UWP and SLP's manifesto from people's point of view

St Lucia :The ruling United Workers Party (UWP) and opposition St Lucia Labour Party (SLP) have released their manifestos for general elections 2021, scheduled for 26th July 2021.
To understand the perspective of general voters, WIC News is on the ground covering St Lucia's election campaigns for months. The political corresspondent interacted with the people.
People's view on Saint Lucia Party (SLP) manifestos :
A resident of Castries North called the SLP manifesto a 'ray of hope', stating that being a tax payer he is touched by the promises of SLP, which would eliminate people who are earning $4,000 a month and less from paying tax.
In addition, he noted that at present a large portion of his small earing goes into taxes, making him compromise from several of needs.
He added, "Many of needs will be completed if the SLP forms government. "
Another resident of Castries South East noted that, the promise of giving a loan of $25 million in guarantees to support working capital loans to small and medium-sized enterprises looks boom for them.
The resident said as St Lucia is a democratic country, people are seeking their own rights, which somehow disappeared under the Chastanet government.
Micoud South resident giving his view on the recently proclaimed manifestos said that SLP ensured that all eligible citizens can access these benefits, eliminating political interference in the granting of incentives by establishing objective criteria for eligibility and approval.

To get a much clearer image, WIC News corresspondent also interacted with the general public of Laborie constituency to get their opinion on the manifesto launched by the governing United Workers Party.
A single mother of two children said, "But not this time, we can not make the same mistake in this election. "
Remembering the coronavirus pandemic time, she said," I lost my husband during this pandemic time and got no support from the government, I know they cannot ensure anything to me knowing that the government lacks empathy for its people ."
Alleging some serious claims on the current government, residents of Anse la Raye and Canaries noted that the UWP government completely failed in the current time.
General Election in St Lucia seems very competitive. WIC News ground reports sense that the fight for Allen Chastanet not looking easy this year.
