St Kitts and Nevis: Seven successful years for PM Harris led-administration

Basseterre: Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris led government completed his seven exquisite years serving the nation in the office. PM Harris, while congratulating the whole administration, also thanked the leader of the People's Action Movement, Shawn Richards, as well as the leader of the Concerned Citizen's Movement, Mark Brantley, for providing their constant support and heading the twin-island Federation to the path of progress.
Prime Minister asserted, "Team Unity Government has significantly improved good governance in St Kitts and Nevis both by Legislative and administrative actions."
On occasion, PM Harris underlined the significant steps initiated and achievements of his administration in these past seven years. He highlighted that to improve the 'good governance', the Team Unity government established by law a definitive period for tabling a Motion of No Confidence.
PM Harris led-administration also elucidated the role of the Public Accounts Committee and operationalized the procurement and contract (Administration) act, PM Harris further emphasized.
"Government accountability and transparency in St Kitts and Nevis is at a high with regular public engagements via programmes such as - Working For You, Leadership Matters, and Press Conferences and regular meetings of Parliament", the prime minister stated.
Following the above-mentioned statement, he added by noting that the Team Unity administration also has raised funding, new facilities as well created tons of opportunities for twin-island's security forces, which eventually helped in the massive decline of the homicide rate in St Kitts and Nevis.
Besides this, PM Harris assured that his government stays earmarked to raise the standard of living of St Kitts and Nevis citizens and to provide the needy with bigger and better homes.
"Earlier this month, 20 homes were allocated in St Peter's, following which now more homes are expected to be handed over to the recipients in the Constituency 7, by this week only, while other homes will also be handed over within forthcoming months", the prime minister highlighted, while counting the work done by his administration.
He added more than 3,000 citizens, and residents benefitted from repairs and renovation of their houses via the government's 'roof repair programme', and for the first time, the 'homeowners programme' of the Team Unity government-furnished concessions on building materials to close to 900 applicants in the twin-island Federation.
Meanwhile, the statics also proves that under the leadership of the Team Unity administration, the employment rate and job opportunities for the citizens have hiked in the time frame of the last seven years. PM Harris requested the individuals to grab and take advantage of the positions available in the public service. As per the social security records, in 2019, there was a record of 30,487 contributors to the scheme with 29 181 employees and well over 1,300 self-employed persons.
Apart from this, the SKN prime minister applauded his administration for performing utmost responsibilities in chopping off the challenges put in place by the COVID-19 pandemic.
PM Harris notes that he is optimistic for the future growth of the Federation's economy post-COVID-19.
