Antigua and Barbuda: A recent shooting incident took place on May 15, which caused the death of a male while another individual was reported to be severely injured. The incident has marked the fifth homicide of this year in Antigua.
According to the reports, the fatal shooting incident took place early morning at a nightclub in Antigua. The police officials have not yet revealed the identity of the victim, but he is reported to be the son of the club’s owner.
The police also added that the individual who sustained injuries is presently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. The incident was reported around 4:40 am, but the officials have not yet been able to determine the exact motive behind the murder.
Following the brutal incident, the officials urged the general public to come up with information related to this incident or report any other criminal activity to the nearby police station.
According to the reports, this is the fifth homicide in Antigua since the start of 2024, and just under two weeks ago, on May 4, 17-year-old Omarrie Graham became the fourth homicide victim, with 19-year-old Clarence Cameron now in custody for the murder.
As the shooting incidents in Antigua and Barbuda are on the increase, police officials are calling out to people to report any type of criminal activity to them and refrain from engaging in silly arguments with anyone.
This year, several shooting incidents have left so many people injured, causing fear among the citizens and residents. The citizens are taking to Facebook to point their fingers at the government and the Ministry of National Security.
“Minister of national security says crime is on a down low…nothing to worry about,” wrote a user named Joann Tanner, while another user said, “Every single body just keep saying rip nah and dog get up and demand this failure of a government to protect the citizens of this country them have 24-hour police protection.”
