Randolph Edmeade: "What else do you expect me to say?"

"What else do you expect me to say! I work for the government. I am employed by the government," responded Mr Randolph Edmeade, Director of the Development Control and Planning Board when asked: "Can you with a clear conscience guarantee the people of this country (St Kitts and Nevis), that the construction of the new Basseterre High School on the Basseterre Valley Aquifer will never contaminate the drinking water."

Mr Edmeade was responding to my question in the presence of another person and in the hearing of others on Friday afternoon as he was about to enter Horsford's Valu Mart at Bladens.

Mr Edmeade was one of six persons on a Team Unity-selected panel to discuss the impact of constructing the EC$80 million new Basseterre High School on the Basseterre Valley aquifer.

Other panel members were Chairman, Innotech Services (St. Kitts) Ltd Anthony De Silva; retired Water Engineer, Halla Sahely; Senior Principal Stantec Caribbean, Andrew Hutchinson and D&B Project Manager, Innotech Services (St. Kitts) Ltd Ian Rogers.
