Political tensions force organizers to cancel Phagwa event in Guyana

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has dropped the present Holi Utsav at the Everest Ground, Georgetown because of strains following the March 2 Regional and General Elections.
"We support the recognition of this lovely celebration in all the sanctuaries across Guyana through Holi satsangh, petitions, Phagwah melodies and chowtal. As we smear the excellent shades of spring on one another's faces, let us introduce clique, love and solidarity over our country. May your Phagwa be honoured and may every heart be enlightened with intelligence and harmony," GHDS said in an announcement.
GHDS has welcomed enthusiasts to go to Holika Dahan at the Shri Krishna Mandir, Campbellville today around evening time from 6:30.
Post-political decision viciousness on March 5 has left one individual dead, and a few people harmed.
Organisations across Guyana have stayed shut because of fears of further viciousness.
