CORRECTION: In an earlier article WIC News said that police in St Kitts and Nevis had not shared with the public the autopsy results relating to a number of murder victims. This was an error and they had actually been released earlier this month (February 2019).
The autopsy reports of three recent murder victims have been released.
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force in a release dated February 27 said forensic pathologist Dr Valery Alexandro performed the autopsies on the bodies of victims of recent fatal shooting incidents.
"According to Dr Alexandrov the cause of death of 35-year-old Vere Amory and 25-year-old Joel Phillip was a single gunshot wound to the head," the statement said.
The statement continued: "For 25-year-old Gavin Rogers, cause of death was concluded as the result of multiple gunshot wounds about the body."
Joel "Booyaka" Phillip was killed in his St. Johnston Village home, Basseterre, on February 14.
33-year-old Musa "Ziggy" Warner and his cousin 22-year-old Shakeem "Scotty" Stevens were murdered on a public road in Green Tree Housing, Old Road on February 8.
Vere Amory was shot and killed as he played a game of dominos in Sandy Point on February 13.
Funeral services were held on February 25 for 28-year-old Eric "Jun Jun" Thompson murdered outside his home at Pond's Pasture, Basseterre on February 11, 2019.
Dr Alexandrov concluded that his death was as a result of multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
Funeral services for the sixth murder victim, Gavin Rogers, killed in his home at Wingfield Road, Old Road, St. Kitts on February 14, are scheduled for Thursday.
Gun violence has taken the lives of eight youths – all males – for 2019.
