Sint Maarten: The Police Force of Sint Maarten has launched an active investigation into the several reports of dogs being poisoned in the Point Blanche area.
The authorities noted that many residents had approached the community police officers with reports of many incidents where pet dogs in the area have been found poisoned, which resulted in the unfortunate death of many of them.
The authorities are urging people who are responsible for such brutal acts to cease them immediately or they will have to face strict consequences.
They added that this behavior not only causes severe emotional distress to the pet owners and their families but is also considered a criminal offense in the country. The general public was also reminded by the officers that the intentional poisoning of the animals is punishable under the law.
As the reports of the dogs being poisoned circulated online, the netizens said that the owners need to be more careful with their pets and should always accompany them outside the house.
“If these dogs were owned by responsible people, they wouldn’t be roaming about. Have some sort of campaign warning dog owners once again to have their dogs collared for identification, and if not, they have to be impounded,” said a user named Alejandra Lynch, while another user named John said, “Better patrol those areas more often. Probably planning a home(s) invasion or stealing of cars.”
A user expressed her sadness and wrote, “Heart breaking. Praying for all the Animals in Pt Blanche. Animal Abusers need to be punished,” while a user also dropped crying emojis in the comment sector and noted, “Omg so sad, yes please punish them.”
Meanwhile, the police authorities have also vowed to find the persons behind such a brutal act in Point Blanche. They aim to ensure that everyone, including the animals, are protected in Sint Maarten.
