West Basseterre Labour Member of Parliament, Konris Maynard has labelled the 2019 Budget as a "bikini budget."

"The budget this year is a Bikini Budget. Barely Anything. Some may say it looks pretty but it has barely anything. Barely Anything. A Bikini Budget," said Maynard, who pointed out that it is "unbelievably amazing that a Government of four years, have spent most of their budget presentations either responding to issues brought up by the Opposition or revisiting old talking points already evaluated by the electorate," said Maynard.

The first term parliamentary representative questioned why the Timothy Harris-led ministers could not use the Budget Debate to inform the public of all the good things they claim could happen for the country in 2019.

Highlighting the concerns of the constituents that he represents, Maynard said he has some key areas looked at the estimates and searched for projects for the people of West Basseterre.

"In sports, I have called and will continue to call for the development of the Lime Kiln Playing field. I have perused volume Two of the draft estimates for the ministry of sports and there is no intention for any development of this area in the upcoming year. The young people of Shadwell continue to plead for a play space. Every time I visit, the young men are playing football in the streets. The children are playing in the streets," said Maynard, who also called for improved lighting at Patsy Allers playfield.

"In Buckley's Estate, the young people play on the green space right next to the FT Williams Highway. Needless to say this is very dangerous. In Camps Estate, all of the children and young people play in the streets that lead into Camps. Residents continue to plead about the near misses between vehicular traffic and children," said Maynard who called for the completion of Boyd's playfield that began in 2014.

"It still is not completed after 4 years," said Maynard.
