PM Skerrit meets computer programmers, discusses opportunities in digital economy

During the meeting, PM Skerrit along with computer programmers and software developers discussed the opportunities being created in the digital economy.
Prime Minister said, “On Saturday, I met with a group of computer programmers and software developers at Jungle Bay, to discuss opportunities being created in the digital economy.”The PM further assured that his government will provide full support to the sector and will encourage the youth to participate. “I heard their ideas and recommendations and assured them of the Government's support of youth participation in the sector,” Prime Minister stated.
He added that a number of entrepreneurs have "already been operating in the digital space made presentations”.
Along with Prime Minister Skerrit, this meeting was attended by the Minister for the Digital Economy- Cassanni Laville, Coordinator of the Digital Economy Unit- Mr Robert Tonge, and other government ministers and high-rank officials.
Furthermore, Prime Minister notified that the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica had been continuously working towards the development of the digital economy under the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project. The government has invested around 75 million dollars in the project.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit mentioned, “The Government of Dominica is investing 75 million dollars in developing the digital economy as part of the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project.”Dominicans praised the government for the work it is doing to lift the youth. One stated, “This is great to see,” yet another said, “Awesome initiative. Creating opportunities for our brightest minds”. The third one said that the Roosevelt-led government is a perfect example of “A government for his people and by the people”.
Dominica has been moving on the track of success under the leadership of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit. Recently, the government announced the transformation from machine-readable passports to electronic passports (or chips).Latest
