PM Skerrit explores partnership with CCECC in China for Dominica's infrastructure development (PC - Facebook)

The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, had a fruitful discussion with the principals of CCECC - China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation during his official visit to Beijing, China. The CCECC is the firm behind several major infrastructural projects in Dominica.

During the meeting, PM Skerrit discussed their partnership and looked forward to collaborating on other developmental initiatives that will help advance Dominica's economy.

While sharing glimpses of the event on his official social media accounts, the Prime Minister noted that the Government of Dominica earlier partnered with CCECC on the construction of several projects in Dominica.

These include the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, the Mahaut Primary School, the Bellevue Chopin Housing Development, the recently built Health and Wellness Centers and the six new schools, which will be constructed with funding from the People's Republic of China, among other projects.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit is currently in China for an official visit on the occasion of 20 years of diplomatic relations between both countries. His last visit was in 2005 and this time he appreciated the Chinese President and his leadership.

Dr Skerrit said that China is progressing in a dramatic way because of the leadership of President Xi Jinping and for the policies that he has articulated and implemented over the last several years.

"We are always impressed with the discipline and the vision of China, and look forward to working with the country as we advance multilateral cooperation and also bilateral cooperation. I am very impressed with China," he added.

On Monday, the Prime Minister met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. They discussed the long-standing relationship and pledged commitment to deepening the friendship between Dominica and China through vigorous exchanges and further cooperation in various fields. Xi noted that the agricultural expert group and medical team from China have written excellent stories of friendship between the two countries. Projects such as hospitals, roads, and sports stadiums built with Chinese assistance display the friendly cooperation between the two nations.

Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also met on Monday with Premier Li Qiang and the Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, Zhao Leji.
