Antigua and Barbuda received five new coronavirus cases on Saturday. The results were received from St. Johns Medical Centre (MSJMC) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).

Antigua and Barbuda received five new coronavirus cases on Saturday. The results were received from St. Johns Medical Centre (MSJMC) and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). Health Ministry stated that the new cases were as a result of 187 collected by processed by St. Johns Medical Centre and were processed by CARPHA. Twelve recovered cases have been recorded, bringing the total 1014. At the same time, the total number of people with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Antigua and Barbuda is 1232, which is inclusive of 187 active cases. The health ministry stated that eight of these cases are currently hospitalized, and one person is severe, while one is currently moderate, and six are showing mild symptoms. Meanwhile, 167 vaccines were administered since the last publication increasing the total number of individuals vaccinated to 30,067.

Antigua and Barbuda is also running vaccine drives as earlier this month it received 22,000 doses of Oxford Astrazeneca coronavirus vaccine from WHO's COVAX mission with an alliance to GAVI.

Earlier in March, Antigua had received around 40,000 doses of vaccine from India as part of its vaccine Maitri Initiative that aimed at assisting under developing countries with free coronavirus vaccine. The country further shared the vaccine with the sister island of Grenada.

India had delivered more than 200,000 doses of vaccines to the Caribbean region with Dominica being the first receiver of 70,000 doses.
