The Health Minister cited, "On Thursday we had one case, and this case yielded another ten positives the following day as a result of the contact tracing. Once we had those figures & the information related to COVID-19 positive cases, it was quite clear to the staff of the Ministry of Health and Wellness that this was a potential problem."
Following the statement, he added that these COVID-19 cases involve and include individuals who would have done some bar-hopping at some bars within - the City of Bridgetown & the area of general St Michael."Because of the nature of those visits at those bars, we knew we had to move very fast to be ready to contain a spread," the health minister added.
He noted that the contact tracing is currently going on so as to reach every primary & secondary contacts of the individual who would have visited the bars over the last few weeks (particularly in the bars within the area of Nelson Street, Wellington Street, and Suttle Street areas, as well as on the Spring Garden Highway).
In addition, the Health Minister has also requested the citizens of Barbados to take the jabs of their COVID-19 vaccine in order to fight and defeat the contagious mutant.
The Health Minister, following the above statement, stressed that getting fully vaccinate against the deadly COVID-19 virus is the only way to defeat it and take a win over it.Minister Bostic has also urged the Barbadians to keep following the COVID-19 guidelines & to reduce in-person contact as much as possible in order to avoid COVID-19 numbers rising sharply once again as it did earlier in the year.
