The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 26-year-old man was discovered on Wednesday morning.
WIC News reported early yesterday that an alleged kidnapping had taken dramatic turn, which police confirmed later in the day.The body of Kenroy Simpson, a Jamaican national who lived at Cedar Grove, was found in an open field with what injuries that suggested he had been shot multiple times.
Only hours before, officers had been alerted to an incident in the area.
“Shortly after 1am on Wednesday, the police received a call and responded to a report of an alleged robbery and kidnapping at his home in Cedar Grove,” the police said.
“It was reported that four men wearing masks, and dressed in camouflage clothing, forcefully entered his home which he [Simpson] shared with his girlfriend, and robbed them at gunpoint of an undisclosed sum money.
“It is further alleged that the assailants forced him into a silver Toyota Platz motor car [registration R3295], and drove him to the area where his body was later found.”
A vehicle matching that description was later found abandoned near Piggott’s, police said, and it has been recovered for further investigation.
Earlier this year, Simpson was arrested and charged with drug-related offences. In April he was question in connection with money laundering activities.
