Commonwealth of Dominica’s Leader of Opposition, Lennox Linton allegedly took the US $500,000 from Western Sahara group named Polisario Front for 2019 general election funding. The incident reportedly took place in October 2017 when Linton and his aide Crispin Grigwar reached disputed land of Western Sahara as a Dominican delegation.
News outlet named Ajit USA published a controversial article with pictures showing Lennox Linton in a proximity meeting with brutal separatist group Polisario Front’s leader, Brahim Ghali. “Member of Parliament and leader of the opposition, Lennox Linton visited Brahim Ghali in October 2017, where Linton supported the separation agenda of Brahim Ghali who is facing critical criminal charges in the National Court of Spain. Along with that, Lennox Linton also received the US $500,000 from the Polisario Front as election funding and Ghali offered him fertilizers for farmers in Dominica, but Linton did not follow up since he received the desired money.” Quoted Ajit USA.
Apart from this, a similar story was carried out by another European news organization, CCE News, which outlined the whole story of Lennox Linton reaching out to Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in the year 2017. Site also noted that Ghali is often labelled as the torturer of the separatist movement against Morocco government and is also a most wanted man in Spain.
News sites state that the United Nations and the European Union have been monitoring the money embezzlement by Ghali and his separatist organization Polisario Front. “Tindouf Camp, which is under control of the Polisario Front and housing more than 90,000 people, disputes are raising over the aid embezzlement, inhumane conditions and crackdowns on opposing voices.” It states.
Mostly, United Nations or European Union send aid to the refugee camps in Western Sahara and Polisario Front is alleged to the sale of the products instead of distributing to the people suffering in the camps.
This is not the first time CCE News brought an exposing story of Opposition, Leader Lennox Linton. In the year 2019, CCE correspondent exposed Linton’s connection with a British businessman Terry Baron with whom he had signed a deal to sale off a Dominican property at a much lower price if he (Linton) gets elected as the Prime Minister. Besides this, photographs and videos of Lennox Linton and Terry Baron remained quite viral on social media. Other than this, there have been allegations on Lennox Linton of receiving 1 million dollars from Terry Baron in order to deliver the deal he had promised.
