Jamaica: The state-owned refinery, Petrojam, on Thursday, announced changes to fuel prices with a major reduction in the price of gasoline, diesel and kerosene. The prices of both E-10 87 and E-10 90 moved down by $3.06. The new prices have come as a major relief for the citizens and residents of Jamaica as this major reduction has come after a long time.

Petrojam said that retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices as effective from Thursday, June 6, 2024.

According to the information, the E-10 87 will be moving down by $3.06 with the new price being $171.60 per litre and a litre of E-10 90 will also drop by $3.06 and the new price of the product will stand at $179.34.

In addition to this, the Automotive Diesel Oil will also move down by $3.06 per litre with the new price now standing at $170.93.

Meanwhile, the Ultra low sulphur diesel has also witnessed the same drop in prices and the new price is now $178.02. The cost of Kerosene has also witnessed a major decline of $4.06 with the new price being $168.61.

In the meantime, propane cooking gas will be going down by $1.21 to sell for $67.51 while the butane will also reduce by $1.21 with the new price being $74.74 per litre.

As the citizens face this major reduction in prices of fuel products, many of them took to Facebook to express their views, with some even saying, “Gas stations buy the fuel higher prices, on the market, price drop, but they still have the fuel they buy from old cost so it still high for you until they buy more, then it should be down.”

People were worried that these prices will not reflect at the pump as the sellers work to sell their products at high prices.

Not only this, but the Petrojam also asked the citizens to fuel their vehicles right as there are specified vehicles for which specific gases should be used. It is to be noted that Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Subaru, Mazda, Hyundai, and Suzuki must use E10 87 Gasoline, while BMW, Porche, Mercedez Benz, Audi, Volvo, Range Rover, and Volkswagen should use E10 90 Gasoline.
