I have a home and I want every citizen of Dominica to have a home too, says PM Skerrit
PM said the apartments which are being built in Jimmit is just a start and there is a lot to come and the government will always be there to help people in finding a roof over their heads.

The budget of the Commonwealth of Dominica was presented in the parliament on 30th of July, 2019. After the presentation of the budget, the government moved ahead with its post-budget townhall meetings. Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit addressed countrymen at the west coast village of Mahaut.
In the meeting PM said that Dominica will soon get its cruise village, he said, “ I am a huge supporter of a cruise village, they facilitate the citizens with new opportunities of employment. The arrival of cruise ships in Dominica results in more visitors on the Island which gives monetary benefits to all of us.”
Dominica’s housing revolution remained one of the main subjects of Prime Minister Roosevelts Speech, he said that government is accountable for their spoken words and they will provide new homes to all those who lost their houses in the devasting hurricane, “
While speaking up regarding governments housing revolution PM said, “We have decided to ensure that every family in our country is has a home not an ordinary home but a resilient home, a home that they are comfortable with and a home that they are proud to have. There is no point of me to sell a house knowing that the other person has no money to buy it. “
Skerrit also said, “I don’t make promises that I cannot keep when I say something by the grace of god it happens and it is happening.”
In addition to that, Skerrit said that “ It is our Christian duty to provide shelter to the homeless and as a government, we have the opportunity to help the citizens in having a roof over their heads, by the grace of God we can provide a home to everyone in the country. I have a home and I want everyone else on this Island to have a home too. We are practical pragmatic and focused and know what we are doing in Dominica and yes we are building the new and resilient Dominica."
Prime Minister also lashed upon the opposition for questioning the activities of the government, he said, “ some people criticize what we do and they find no good in Dominica or Dominican people, they don’t want things to happen and pray god that our plans never happen but the god we serve is always with us and it is helping us in building the ‘New Dominica’. “
While clarifying the allegations over the MMC Skerrit said, “ MMC is a company that came right after the hurricane to help the Island and they started their work even before we paid them any dollar, the government signed the agreement after one year. Anybody in Dominica brings me a company which will spend its own company for the betterment of some other country. “
Skerrit said that people of Dominica knows what is happening and they have their eyes open to understand who is helping them.
