Grenada reports additional 5 cases of COVID-19

Grenada: The country now has 11 active COVID-19 cases, with the addition of 5 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The daily report published by the Ministry of Health shows that all the prevailing cases are imported.

The most recent cases fall under the age of 22-46 years and involve 2 males and 3 females, all of whom are completely vaccinated.

The cases are all isolated in different facilities across the nation. All of the new cases entered Grenada on August 6 from the US and are currently without flu symptoms.

In extension to the 5 new cases, another two cases were previously reported on August 5 and 6. One of the cases, Trinidadian man, is asymptomatic, whereas the other, a Jamaican woman, is encountering nasal congestion, coughing, sinus pain and headache.

The latest cases lead to 178, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Grenada since the global pandemic outbreak in March 2020.

The Ministry of Health has validated that the 51 outstanding test results, from persons who were contacts of case #170, have all turned negative, reducing fears of potential community spread.

The Ministry of Health advised persons to comply with the various COVID-19 measures such as maintaining physical distance, avoiding large gatherings, using masks while in public places, and washing or sanitising hands frequently.

The Ministry also stretched to inspire Grenadians to get vaccinated, as this accommodates to decrease the severity of symptoms connected with COVID-19.

To date, 21,859 people have taken their first dose of AstraZeneca, while 17,013 Grenadians have taken both shots.
