Jamaica: In a bid to provide relief to the citizens of Jamaica, the Government has announced a reduction in prices of Gasoline, Diesel, and Kerosene.
The motorists will see this decreased price at the pumps effective today. This was according to the latest ex-refinery costs from Petrojam, Jamaica’s only petroleum refinery, which is 100 percent owned by the Government.
According to the information from the petroleum refinery, the E10 90 Gasoline will be sold to consumers for $182.39 after a drop of $0.52, while the E10 87 gas will be sold for $174.66 after a slight reduction of $0.51.
Meanwhile, the price of automotive diesel oil now stands at $173.99 after a reduction of $0.43, and Ultra-low sulphur diesel will sell for $181.07 per litre following a reduction in price of $0.25.
Also, the cost of Kerosene will go down by $0.77 to sell for $172.66 from Thursday onwards. On the other hand, the propane cooking gas will go up by $3.06 to sell for $68.72, while butane will increase by $2.78 to sell for $75.95 per litre.
The Petrojam announced that retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices and will sell the fuel products as per the prices announced by the government.
As the new fuel prices are all set to come into effect from today onwards, the citizens and residents of Jamaica took to Facebook to give their suggestions on the development.
“Consumer Affairs government needs to monitor the gas station price,” wrote a user named Nas Scarlett, while another user said, “I don’t know which is more expensive out there or over here, $3.39, $3.50, $3.70 and some other places are $3.80 and $3.90.” A user named Robbie also noted that Jamaica gas prices are way lower than in the States, which makes the cost of living in the country significantly easier than in several other nations across the world.
