Five people with new coronavirus strain recovered in St Lucia
Five people have been identified with the new coronavirus variant in St Lucia, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and health ministry confirmed.

CARPHA hosted an emergency conference with the Pan-American Health Organisation, the World Health Organisation, the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States to spread the word on the new coronavirus strain, which originated from the United Kingdom.
The meeting was also attended by the region's chief medical officers to discuss the risks related to the new coronavirus variant.
People in St Lucia are terrified by the critical conditions caused by the chronic coronavirus strain, and people continue to test positive for the contagious virus.The new coronavirus strain was highly anticipated to arrive in the Caribbean nations' fully open to tourism under lesser restrictive measures.
St Lucia currently has over 886 confirmed cases of coronavirus, while 461 are said to be recovered from this contagious disease. Over 11 deaths have also been recorded in the Caribbean country.
Recently, the government of St Lucia also suspended alcohol licenses of restaurant, bar owners for 21 days. The consumption of alcohol in public places is also prohibited as the government's efforts to reduce the spread of the virus.
Many people are condemning the act of banning alcohol, however, the government continues to keep restrictions in place to stop the contamination of the virus.
Hotels in St Lucia have are also offering free coronavirus testing to their customers to ease their traveling experience as the majority of the country depends on the tourism sector to feed their families.
