Dominica: A 13-year-old boy who had been missing for almost a week now in Dominica was found unharmed in the Canefield area. Jahshawne Alfred went missing on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
According to the reports, the teenager's mother from the community of Fond Saint Jean, Janelle McDowell, was desperately searching for his missing son. She was deeply concerned and worried about his well-being.According to the reports, on Wednesday, Alfred went to his grandmother's home in Pottersville after leaving school. At her house, he dropped his bag and told her that he was going out to get something to eat.
The reports further added that this was the last time that Alfred was seen by his grandmother, and he has not returned since then.
Her mother, Janelle, also mentioned that teachers at the DGS - Dominica Grammar School, where her son studies, have also reported that the boy has been missing his classes for over a week. The report of the disappearance of Alfred was made immediately by her mother to the police officials. The officials actively engaged and investigated to find Jahshawne's whereabouts.
The investigation finally led to a positive end as the police officials found him yesterday night.
The police sources confirmed that contrary to initial concerns, the boy was found unharmed and allegedly disclosed that he chose to stay away from home.Notably, her mother also acknowledged the fact that this is not the first time that his son has gone missing, but this time, it has been long since he returned home.
Meanwhile, the citizens and residents of Dominica have expressed their concern over the boy deciding to leave his home."Nobody just up and wants to stay away from home if there's not a problem. I hope that this boy is given the right guidance and counselling which he may need at this time because bashing him and scolding him will only make matters worse," wrote a user named Alejandra Lynch.
Another user named Paul questioned, "He chose to stay away from home definitely requires serious investigation. Where was he for the last six days? There are a lot of questions that require answers. Glad he was found safe."
