Dominica to launch E-Passport today

Dominica: Commonwealth of Dominica will launch a new E-Passport today, Monday 26th July 2021. Notably, those who have already applied for their Dominican passport can choose to wait for a biometric one; also, those applying for passport renewal will now be issued the new version. The method for changing old passports to the new biometric passport will be circulated in due time. Procedure for application of new passport : -Download the passport application form by visiting www.dominica.gov/forms. The form can also be collected at the immigration office in Roseau, Marigot Sub-Treasury and the Portsmouth Sub-treasury. -Submit payment for the passport ($150-adult|$75 -children under 16) at the Treasury or via e-payment www.epayment.dominica.gov.dm. -Submit the completed application form and all relevant documents to the immigration office :

Two passports sized facial photos
Birth certificate
Marriage certificate (if married)
Payment Receipt

Biometric passports add various new security features to the traditional passport, with an embedded microchip holding the holder's personal data, including facial, fingerprint, & iris information. This makes the document much harder for fraudsters and criminals to replicate than information on a printed page. Holders of Dominica's biometric passport can also apply the ePassport gates at border control for faster arrival into their destination. While speaking about the matter previous, the Minister for National Security and Home Affairs, Rayburn Blackmoore, noted this initiative would enhance the country's border security features, create a watchlist for persons of interest, also keep officers apprised of information on passengers and cargo entering the nation. Dominica is one of the few countries in the Caribbean to begin such improvement.
