Cuban state television has shown video footage of detained opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer in a visible state of agitation in a police interrogation room.

The footage released on Wednesday night seems to confer Ferrer throwing furniture, banging his head on a metal table, and shouting.

The television presenter advised that Ferrer is crippling himself and that accusations that he is being abused in jail are misleading.

The video combined statements by a man named as Sergio García González who says Ferrer attacked him.

"Ferrer was detained on October 1 on suspicion of abduction and assault — accusations his supporters refuse as false," said Cuba.

According to Cuba, the United States is funding and influencing Ferrer's activities. The U.S. says Ferrer is a nonviolent protester whose human rights have been violated.
