CARICOM countries fighting COVID-19 pandemic with unity: Irwin LaRocque

The fight on Covid-19 has noted the importance of unity with the Caribbean countries in the expectation, the secretary-general of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Irwin LaRocque, noted on Thursday.
In the last message of the year, the official asserted that the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus harmed this geographical area. Still, once again the region tackled adversity with the power of its unity.
He pointed out that the group gave a comparable success in the managing of the health aspects of the fight against the pandemic and has so far encountered 1,300 deaths from the disease, a low level compared to the global context.'
He also acknowledged that the aid received by the CARICOM countries from other nations, as well as from the World Health (WHO) and Pan-American (PAHO) health organizations.
La Rocque noted that they could keep the careful balance of guaranteeing citizens' health and safety on the one hand, and the development of economic activities on the opposite hand.
Thereon, he warned about the poverty to respect Covid-19 protocols to alleviate pressure on economic and health sectors.
As the work was done this year shows, the official pointed out that difficulties are not limited the unfolding of a general preference in seven member States and an associated one.
