Canada cricket team arrives in St Kitts and Nevis to prepare for ICC World Cup

St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Sports Samal Duggins was honoured to extend a warm welcome to the Canada Cricket Team as they arrived in St Kitts and Nevis to prepare for the upcoming 2024 ICC World Cup. He extended welcome to the team as they landed at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport on Monday.
Minister Duggins said that it is a privilege to host such esteemed guests who are preparing for the most prestigious tournament which will be kicking off on June 1 and will run through June 29, 2024.
The cricket team from Canada will be engaging in friendly matches with the local talent while showcasing a spirit of sportsmanship. The Minister said that other than the thrill of the game, the presence of team on the island contributes to the broader vision of developing sports in St Kitts and Nevis.
Speaking on the behalf of entire Ministry, Samal Duggins said that they aim not only to nurture the local talent but also to showcase the nation as a hub for sports tourism. He said that this will be done by inviting enthusiasts from across the globe to experience the passion and excitement of cricket in the beautiful surroundings.
The Ambassador of Sports Kenneth Douglas also joined Minister Duggins at the airport to welcome the team. He took to Facebook to share glimpses of the warm welcome and said, “Hon Samal Duggins, Minister of Sports and I, Ambassador of Sports took some time away from cabinet and journeyed to the airport to welcome Canada Cricket Team to our beautiful island as they prepare for the 2024 ICC World Cup starting on June 1st to June 29th.”
He also wished the team all the very best for the upcoming tournament and hoped that they have a good stay in the beloved St Kitts and Nevis.
It is to be noted that sports Development is a major tool that the Labour Party as a government is working towards the Sustainable Island State Agenda and the arrival of the international team showcases that the country is moving in the right direction.
