Business advice for Dominica from Jamaica’s public sector body

The private sector in Dominica is to get expert advice from the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) this week.

Dennis Chung, the chief executive of the PSOJ, has been invited to the capital Roseau to participate in a series of activities between 13-15 June.

The aim is to strengthen private sector operations in the Nature Island.

The event was organised by the Dominica Business Forum (DBF), an umbrella consortium of business support organisations in the country.

The group hopes that the PSOJ can assist in their intervention efforts, which include the sensitisation of Dominica’s private sector on the realities of doing business in the Caribbean.

‘Learn from PSOJ success’

The DBF also emphasise the need for greater collaboration within the private and public sector on a national and regional level.

“The organisation and its affiliates wishes to learn from the PSOJ and its experience in Jamaica, since it is widely accepted that the PSOJ is the most respected and successful private sector organisation in the Caribbean,” said the DBF.

The OECS Commission supported the Dominica Business Forum with the preparation of a successful financial request on their behalf to Caribbean Export.

During his visit, Chung is scheduled to meet with a broad cross section of Dominican private sector entities, government officials and the opposition.

He will also attend a special private sector lunch as well as a public discussion forum.
