The victim, Twenty-five-year-old Dwayne Desilver, is presently recovering at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre after he sustained bullet wounds to his neck.
According to the reports, the victim is said to be in a stable condition but is under medical observation. The suspect is now facing serious multiple charges.
Forde is now accused of maliciously and unlawfully shooting Desilver with the intention to kill him.
In addition to this, he is facing charges of discharging a firearm in public and unlawfully possessing two firearms along with ammunition.
The police report added that Desilver was shot during the altercation and was immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera, showing a chaotic scene with the victim covered in blood and receiving help from onlookers.
The officials also added that the altercation between the two men escalated on Lower All Saints Road in Antigua.
As the incident was reported to the police officials, they investigated the scene and recovered a pistol and spent shells from the site. The gun was retrieved from the suspect’s vehicle, who used it to injure the victim before running away from the scene.
In addition to this, the suspect appeared before a magistrate and was remanded to the prison. He is awaiting his hearing, which is scheduled for June 26.
Meanwhile, the citizens and residents of Antigua and Barbuda condemned the incident and said that it is the carelessness of officials that the crime is increasing.
“Blame everyone, police, authorities and maybe even society for the crimes being committed, that’s politics, but how about the lousy parenting behind them,” wrote a user named Keith Crowe, while another user said, “My God is this the wild west we can't sleep comfortably at night.”
