A Whenner Road man has been fined $47,000 for smuggling 1.3kg (2.75lbs) of cannabis into the country.
Glenroy Anthony Fletcher, 27, was discovered by members of the police K-9 unit during a routine search at Deep Water Harbour on 9 August.
A handler was alerted to a cardboard box by one of the dogs, and inside there were two brown teddy bears – each stuffed with cannabis.
The drugs were seized and taken to police headquarters, where investigations began.

Fletcher pleaded guilty to all charges at St Johns Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
If he fails to pay his fines he will be imprisoned, said Magistrate Confliff Clarke, adding that sentences are to run concurrently.
