St. Kitts and Nevis: The Department of Agriculture, St. Kitts and Nevis has extended a call to the public to actively participate in Hydroponics Training. The training has been scheduled for June 4 to June 6, 2024 at the Large Conference Room.
“Are you ready to gain endless knowledge and skills related to various methods of modern farming and hydroponics?” mentioned the Agriculture Department.
The training includes several of the required procedures that will boost the production of crops, leading towards the boost in the tourism sector. These include-
- Crop Selection and Varieties
- Irrigation & Water Management
- Rest and Disease Management
- Managing Hydroponic Systems
- Designing Hydroponic Systems
“Take the advantage of this free training session being offered by the Department of Agriculture this week!” added the Agriculture Department.
Considerably, hydroponics is the technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil. In this process, the water provides nutrients, hydration, and oxygen to the plants.
Such systems installed in the nation are to expand the technology on the farms around the island. Through such a technology in the country, the projections can be made of increased vegetable production. This would foster the need to provide constant and quality supplies.
The projected agriculture boost would lead towards the economic growth in the country. This is due to the reason that after tourism, the majority of the economic state is dependent on the agriculture sector.
This two day long training would offer great benefits to the small island nation, marking a step towards sustainable development of the country. And, initiatives like this even state the government’s unwavering support and commitment towards taking the country to the heights.
The Hydroponics Training being offered in the country will contribute greatly towards the future of farming in the nation, directly contributing towards the overall development of the nation.
