St Lucia: The steep rise of COVID-19 infections is not stopping as St Lucia confirmed additional 136 new cases of coronavirus and 3 deaths on Tuesday, September 15.

According to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs, the new positive cases of COVID-19 makes up 28.7% of all 470 samples processed at Ezra Long Laboratory during that time and reported two new deaths.

The Ministry of Health also reported 3 new COVID-19 related deaths in the country, which includes a 34-year-old male from Castries, an 83-year-old male from the Choiseul District and a 54-year-old male from Labories.

St Lucia currently has 2,405 positive cases of COVID-19 and about 7,670 recoveries to date. The country has reported 139 deaths due to illnesses related to coronavirus.

To date, 35,437 persons have received the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccines doses and 28,784 persons have inoculated with a double dose of Astra Zeneca vaccine. Whereas, 6989 persons have been vaccinated with Pfizer first dose and 83 are fully inoculated with Pfizer vaccine in St Lucia.

Total 42,426 persons in St Lucia have received their first dose of COVID-19, and 28,867 are fully vaccinated against the virus. The government of St Lucia has imposed strict guidelines in the country to stem the spread of the virus. On September 16, 2021, the vaccination will be available at the Vieux-Ford RC Parish Hall People’s Discount Drugstore at St Louis Street on an appointment basis only. The immunisation will begin from 9 AM and will end by 4 PM following the curfew announced by the government. Persons who are interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccine can call the community wellness Centre to book their appointment.
