Small businesses in Colihaut will get a development boost after the Dominica Ministry of Finance approved $200,000 in assistance.
Lady Catherine Daniel, MP for Colihaut, revealed the news at a town hall in the village.
The funds are designed to help people who have been waiting to start small enterprises, as well as existing business who need help.
A programme will be developed with the Ministry of Commerce, Enterprise and Small Business Development to ensure money is used efficiently.
Daniel said: "We want to come with the Minister of Commerce, because we do not want you to get money and just spend it.
“We want you to use it wisely and to ensure that you put your money to safe use and that it makes little ones for you.
“We will be coming to you, we will organise that program but that money is already approved… so all those who felt left out, you should put a smile on your face for that."
The member of parliament thanked residents for their patience regarding business help, and assured them funding would be available soon.
