22 teenagers mysteriously dead at a nightclub in South Africa

At least around 22 individuals were dead in a South African Club in East London, South Africa on Sunday. The causes of death remain unknown. As per reports, the majority of the victims were minors as young as 13 years old and gathered in the club to celebrate the end of winter school exams.

Earlier, the initial death count was 17, however, it later rose to 22. Local media reported that the bodies were spread across tables and chairs without any visible signs of hurt. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately after the incident was reported on early Sunday morning.

The legal drinking age in South Africa is 18, while the youngest victim of this incident was 13.

Police minister Bheki Cele stated that the victims ranged from 13 to 17 years old, raising questions about why the minors were being served alcohol. The health department spokesperson Siyanda Manana stated that the cause of death remains unknown, and things will become clear after the autopsy.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed condolences to the families of the kids.

The detectives are trying to understand what happened at the place, with officials reaching out to other participants of the party to understand the cause of the death of so many children. Officials said they do not want any speculations, which is why the investigations are advanced.
