Dominica: Scott Furssedonn-Wood, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Barbados and Eastern Caribbean has expressed his heartiest congratulations to the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. High Commissioner took his twitter account to congratulate the leader for winning the snap general elections with 19 seats in hand.

Furssedonn-Wood, further, stated that he and the Great Britain are looking forward for a successful and prosperous partnership.

The congratulatory message by UK High Commission to Eastern Caribbean read, “Congratulations Dominica, PM Roosevelt Skerrit on your election victory. Your 🇬🇧 friends look forward to continuing our successful partnership.”

The snap general elections were contested in the Commonwealth of Dominica on December 6, 2022. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and his political party Dominica Labour Party claimed a landslide victory after winning 19 seats out of 21. According to the electoral commission of Dominica, six seats were unopposed.

The people of Dominica has chosen Dominica Labour Party as ruling alliance for sixth consecutive times. PM Roosevelt Skerrit thanked each and every supporter for their trust in him and DLP as well as assured to work days and nights for the growth and advancement of the people of the country.

President of Dominica Charles Savarin swore in Dr Roosevelt Skerrit as the Prime Minister of the country on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

Apart from this, many other leaders of DLP, including wife of PM Skerrit, Melissa Poponne Skerrit, Vince Henderson, Denise Charles and Irving McIntyre also remained victorious from their respective constituencies. However, Cassanni Laville of DLP from Mahaut Constituency received the highest votes, i.e. 2016.

This year, 45 candidates filed their nominations to contest in the snap general elections, which was the highest in number. Dominicans also had the choice to choose their Parliamentary Representative for not just two but from four candidates in some constituencies.
