Nevis Fruit Festival 2023 to celebrate plantain and local produce on Aug 4

The Department of Agriculture of Nevis is all set to host Fruit Festival 2023 on Friday, August 4, 2023. The event will take place at Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park from 10 am onwards.

The Department of Agriculture of Nevis is all set to host Fruit Festival 2023 on Friday, August 4, 2023. The event will take place at Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park from 10 am onwards.

This year's Fruit Festival will feature a cake competition, ice cream competition, fruit-eating relay, live entertainment and much more. This year the featured fruit is 'Plantain'.

The Department of Agriculture is hosting this festival to promote the culture of buying local produce. While inviting everyone to join the event, the department said, "The Dept. of Agriculture Fruit Festival is almost here, and we're featuring PLANTAIN this year. Meet us at the MGR Park on Fantastic Friday for all the fruitful festivities on Friday, August 4th, at 10 am at Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park." Registration is open and free for everyone to enter competitions. Individuals interested in being a vendor or entering any of the competitions mentioned above for the Department of Agriculture's upcoming Fruit Festival are urged to register before the July 28 deadline. The Deputy Premier and Minister of Agriculture in Nevis, Eric Evelyn, called on interested vendors and persons to register themselves before the deadline. He added that this year's Fruit Festival will also feature a new activity that is sure to be fun for people of all ages.

The Deputy Premier said that this year for the first time, the festival will be having a new initiative and the Department of Agriculture has been very creative and has introduced fruit eating relay for this year's festival. While explaining the event, he said that the fruit-eating relay would be a team activity where they would eat fruit, go to a different section and eat again.

He outlined, "So those of you who might be interested, start getting your relay teams together for the fruit-eating relay."

While encouraging everyone to join the event, Eric Evelyn said, "You have to be there, so do come and experience, and the entry for the Nevis Fruit Festival 2023 is free of cost."
