Dominica reduces fuel prices amid festive season
Dominica: In a massive relief amid the festive season, the Government of Dominica announced new fuel prices. The prices of gasoline and kerosene have been reduced.

The Government approved this reduction in the prices of petroleum products after a proper review of the regulatory cycle from November 27 to December 15.

As effective from December 27, 2023, the new retail price for gasoline will be $13.91 per gallon, which is a reduction of $0.34 or 2.4%. The present price of gasoline is $14.25 per gallon.

The price of High Sulphur Diesel has also been dropped to $13.41 per gallon by $0.89 or 6.2%. Presently, the price of HSD is $14.30 per gallon.

The cost of kerosene has also dropped to $11.32 per gallon, which is a reduction of $1.41 or 11%. The current price of this product stands at $12.73 per gallon.

As per the government, the decrease in fuel prices is based on an increase in US crude production, which has resulted in an increase in inventory available on the market.

The Government of Dominica also said that it will continue to execute measures to mitigate inflation and cushion the effects of adverse market forces on consumers.

The new changes in fuel products have been made in keeping with the international oil prices and the Dominican government's application of the modified market pass through the petroleum pricing mechanism.

The decrease in prices has been lauded by several social media users, and they appreciate the government for this decision.

A user, probably from the United Kingdom, said, "That is cheap as chips. I am paying £26.91 Dollars in the UK."

"This is extremely great news. Thirty- four cents makes a difference as every cent counts these days," wrote another user.

Several other users expressed that this was a major relief amid the holiday season as people usually travel during this time.
