British Airways fly to Guyana, Saint Lucia proud to facilitate connection to London

Saint Lucia: The Tourism Authority of Saint Lucia felt proud to have been chosen as the connecting destination of services of British Airways between London and Guyana. British Airways’ 777-200er aircraft, which will be plying the Guyana/Saint Lucia/UK route, will accommodate a capacity of 332 passengers.

Saint Lucia: The Tourism Authority of Saint Lucia felt proud to have been chosen as the connecting destination of services of British Airways between London and Guyana. British Airways’ 777-200er aircraft, which will be plying the Guyana/Saint Lucia/UK route, will accommodate a capacity of 332 passengers.

The inaugural service began on Monday, March 27, 2023, servicing London, Guyana and Saint Lucia on Mondays and Thursdays, thereby forging greater partnerships in travel between Guyana and Saint Lucia. Cheddi Jagan International Airport welcomed the inaugural flight.

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority added that these services would help to boost tourism in the island nation and will promote the activities of the country.

The update was also shared by the Guyana Tourism Authority on its official Facebook account as they welcomed British Airways after so many years. The Tourism Authority felt delighted and said, "British Airways, the United Kingdom’s official flag carrier, has officially commenced flight operations to Guyana with stops in Saint Lucia today, March 27."

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, in collaboration with the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, hosted an official welcome ceremony for the inaugural flight.

The Authority added, "Here are some more scenes from tonight’s official welcome ceremony at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport to usher in the inaugural British Airways flight into Guyana."

This signals the start of twice-weekly flights from Georgetown to London via Saint Lucia on Mondays and Thursdays.

Notably, since the announcement of this flight, a number of international media publications have heightened their coverage of Guyana’s immense tourism potential and tour operators, like Trail Finders, have also started offering holiday packages to Guyana.

The team of the Guyana Tourism Authority was present and ready to distribute branded tokens to the incoming passengers on the inaugural flight of British Airways.

The services of British Airways will provide an easy route for British passengers to the Caribbean island Guyana which is expected to boost tourism in the island nation during the coming months.
